Angular 4

Angular is a JavaScript framework to develop web apps. You must have used web apps in your daily life like Gmail, Facebook, Google+, Linkedin. Then, i must tell you that developing a web app is more complex than developing a simple website.

Thatz why we have many frameworks in the market available to manage the complexity like Angular, Backbone, Ember, React etc.  Now what is Angular 4?

There were tons of frameworks all around and different ways to make web applications, but few years back Google started Angular - a framework that is visionary about future changes in the web APIs and receptive to it.

Back in September when the new Angular was finally released, the Angular team also announced they will switch to Semantic Versioning (SEMVER).

As the name already explains, Semantic Versioning is all about adding meaning to version numbers. This allows developers to not only reason about any upgrade we do, but we can even let tools such as NPM do it in a automatic and safe manner for us.

A semantic version consists of 3 major breaking change, 2 minor new features and 1 patch bug fixes.

Stay tuned for more updates in couple of days !!!

Pega Stock

PEGA was a big mover last session, as its shares rose over 8% on the day. The move came after the company announced robust fourth-quarter 2016 earnings. This led to far more shares changing hands than in a normal session. This breaks the recent trend of the company, as the stock is now trading above the volatile price range of $38.25 to $41.30 in the past one-month time frame.
None of the estimates for this stock were revised over the past 30 days. The Zacks Consensus Estimate also remained unchanged over the same time frame. Yesterday’s price action is encouraging though, so make sure to keep a close watch on this firm in the near future.
Pegasystems currently sports a Zacks Rank #3

Marathon Lessons

First of all, wish you a happy and prosperous new year 2017.

Today, itz been an awesome moment during Chennai Wipro Marathon. It was 10 KM race in a beautiful morning near world's second longest beach - Marina.

Though my presence is the first time for this event, itz been a lot of lessons learnt here with different dimensions. Wish to align Top-5 list with my career line.

1. Consistency
As Benjamin said, "Secret of Success is Consistency of Purpose" Though I follow this discipline in my career, itz a different mix of experience in Today's Marathon.  One of my friend (Kannan) is pretty good marathanist. In the absence of my professional preparation, just pair program with him for 70% route. Consistent phase without break, hits decent scorecard of 9 KM/hour. It leads to finish in Top 450 list.

2. Collaboration
During this run, itz evident of many humanity activities by participants, volunteers, supporting people, etc.  It was too encouraging to the event runners by various social support groups. We termed as the highest degree of Collaboration in our industry to boost the business result. As depicted in this section snap, "Alone we can do little; together can do much".

3. Device Driven
Being an IT engineer, I always worried about technology usage gap between end customer and tech firm. As an example, we use the high end tech gadget in home; whereas IT customers are not delivered with that level.  In Today's event, I've observed this use case. Every participant is given with wearable connected smart device to track completely. In key spot of the route, the sensor data receivers were deployed to collect the individual track record. Itz termed as Internet of Things (IoT), an emerging disruptive technology platform in the current IT industry.

4. Real time Update
Big Data is a game changing technology in IT and its related business. Being hot core engineer and pursuing Doctorate in this space, I was font of implementing the solutions. Though, firms are facing so much challenges to roll-out, I'm witnessing the effective usage here. All athletes are requested to register for the recommended application with their BIB no or picture code through a widget(small form) placed on the race website. Once the photos are automatically tagged by the system, the branded photos will be uploaded directly to athletes personal Facebook profile even with creating an individual race album.

5. Social Cause
Over the years, itz been the tremendous support from the people of Chennai. Different people choose different ways to contribute to society, some choose to donate money, some choose to raise money by reaching out to their inner circle, some volunteer their time and skills.  This event provides a platform for everyone to find a perfect match in terms of the manner in which they want to give back to society.

As the closing note, finished 10 KM category in decent time of an hour and 6 minutes. In spite of my first attempt, managed to position in Top-450 list out of 20 Thousands Chennai runners.

See you next year with better scorecard !!

Workplace Hackathon

Design
Typically itz an event, lasting several hours or days, in which a team of professionals with different backgrounds come together. This focused tiny passionate group, works around a problem or idea. Objective is to build collaboratively a unique solution from scratch.  Output is a working model of the conceptual idea using few production data.

Design principle is to sense the input, optimize the process and act the output.

Recent Experience
Earlier, I used to have my personal Hackathon experiences. So far, I worked in leading consultancy and captive firms @ India. Being part of product company, this is the first Hackathon from my workplace.

So, I thoroughly enjoyed 36 hours work place Hackathon with my colleagues. Team member represents different role play like product manager, developer, tester, infra specialist.

Our pitch
Our team build a pitch to leverage IoT and Big Data as part of product development.

Lesson Learnt
Before the event, it is essential to make sure all your infra structure are setup and tested with ready to go state.

By design, it is expected to simplify your project as much as possible. It has been high probability that are not that important for the prototype and so you create the prioritize such events.

As a best practice, it is better to save at least last couple of hours for production testing and final bug fix.

On lighter side, you should plan to sleep and make breaks either you are too tired or your production is low. You shouldn't miss to feed you the proper food in a good amount of time interval.

Top 5 Benefits
In my mind, Top 5 business / technical benefits of Hackathon, listed as below:
  1. Idea Generation
  2. Platform Exposure
  3. Democratization of Innovation
  4. Team Building
  5. Nurture Creativity
To my personal objective - Continuous Learning & Continuous Sharing, this Hackathon event created yet another opportunity.

Until the next event, I'm signing off from this space.
